Privacy policy

Short version: the tools run in your browser, the numbers you type stay there unless you save a project to an account, and the site counts visits without cookies. Nothing is sold.

What runs in your browser

Calculators, the Smith chart, Trace Studio and the cascade canvas compute locally. Your inputs, layouts and preferences are kept in your browser's local storage so a refresh does not wipe your work. Clear site data in your browser to remove them.

Usage analytics

• PostHog (US cloud) records page views and clicks, plus a few tool events such as a Touchstone export or a cascade run. It uses local storage, not cookies. IP addresses are not stored, session recording is off, and if your browser sends Do Not Track, nothing is recorded. Requests go through this site at /ingest before reaching PostHog.
• Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights count visits and page load speed in aggregate, without cookies.

Error reports

Sentry receives a report when the site throws an error: the error message, the page, and the browser type. It is set up not to send personal data, and session replay is off.

Accounts

You never need an account to use a tool. If you sign in to save cascade projects or post in Notes discussions:

• Clerk handles sign-in. It holds your email, name if you give one, and login details, and sets the cookies needed to keep you signed in.
• Supabase stores a profile (account id, email, display name), the projects you save, and comments you post with your display name and avatar.
• Deleting your account removes your profile and saved projects.

Contact form and waitlist

The contact form stores your email, name, message and the page you came from, so a reply can reach you. For rate limiting it keeps a salted hash of your IP address and your browser's user agent, not the IP itself. Cloudflare Turnstile may check that the submission came from a person. A waitlist signup stores only your email.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Vercel, which handles requests and keeps standard server logs for a short time.

What is not done

• No selling or renting of data.
• No advertising trackers or cross-site cookies.
• No session recordings.

Your choices

Turn on Do Not Track or block /ingest to opt out of analytics. To see or delete what is stored about you, delete your account or send a note through the contact page.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
